Tales From the Road (Russell’s B-Day)
Hello Everyone
Sorry it has been so long since our last posting, but we have had to change our mailing system over to Reverb Nation. We think this will be a great new system for communicating with you.Check it out at Reverbnation.com.There is a separate Street Team function so if you are interested in helping us promote in your area please sign up for the Street Team mailing list and we will send you updates on promotional material.
Thanks to all that helped us along on our last Tour.We had a blast up in Williamsport PA even though it was cold. (-6 Brrrrrrrrrrr). The Original handled her self well in the snow and Ice despite our neglect at times to plug in the block warmer. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of riding Kayaks down the snow covered hills at the Smith residents.Followed by Debbie’s home cooked soup and anafternoon nap by the fire place. We get by with a little help from our friends, and who says rock bands have to sleep on the floor in dirty smoke filled apartments all the time.It was Russell’s 28th birthday so we didn’t feel bad at all about living it up.After our nap we took a soak in the hot tub as the snow and sun fell in the background. There is nothing like sipping on liquor in the hot tub when it is 0 degrees out side with ice forming on my beard. (This is Russ by the way) Bruce smith you are my idol! After a day like that there is nothing left to do but go down to Williamsport and rock Kimball’s for a second night. The crowd was great and I (Russ) finished my birthday night by doing the worm on the bar top.Ward has some great video of my birthday antics on his cell phone, so if you see him ask to take a peek.Shortly after my dance moves I ate a lot of chips and salsa and passed out in the back of the bus. (0 Degrees that night)
The next day we made our way to Thomas West Virginia despite the horrible driving conditions. You would think we would travel south in the winter, but no we prefer sub freezing weather and Icy roads. The Purple Fiddle was warm and kind as always and we had a chance to rest after my b-day antiques.
It was then time to return to Asheville. (After driving all night and sleeping in a truck stop)We stopped in at Wess Powers folks house for a great meal and a chance to relax and watch the historic inauguration. That night we played at the Grey Eagle to celebrate the momentous day with a group of awesome fans and our new manager Brian Asplin.(Macro-Management)It was also Brian’s B-day so we celebrated by signing a contract and shaking a tail feather.
That Friday it was on to GottRocks. We would like to send our condolences to Chuck, the Gottrocks staff, and the friends, and family of Chef Barry.Chef Barry passed on unexpectedly in his sleep not too long ago.He was a great person full of smiles and positive energy and he could cook one hell of a meal. From the first time Sol Driven Train took the stage at Gottrocks Chef Barry was an instant fan and friend. He believed in us, and we will miss him. That show was dedicated to him, and it won’t be the last. Chef Berry Rest in Peace you wont be forgotten.
We hope to see you all soon on our path down the road.
Thanks
Russ
